Double Monks £445 at Mr Porter

Esquire BBB – April 2012

Though the style dates back many hundreds of years to medieveal monastic orders – yes, actual monks actually wore them – monk-strap loafers, with their shiny buckled straps, have become the dressiest and boldest option in the world of laceless casual shoes. For our money, this pair in pebble-grain calf just might be the boldest: Between the colour (dirty white) and the elaborate broguing, these aren't the kind of shoes you just throw on to run an errand. Then again, they're not exactly what you'd wear to work, either, unless said work entails mixing it up at boozy lawn parties. In which case: by all means.
